After Abigail Adams
The World War 1 memorial which represents how WW1 changed Separate Spheres for Women.
After the time of Abigail Adams, the idea of separate spheres began to slowly disappear.
- Women started to become more involved in careers that too place outside of the home.
- Jobs women were working were in the manufacturing business and clerical positions.
- During World War 1 even more women got jobs outside of the home because the need was greater.
- Eventually it became normal for women to have jobs outside the house and it is also becoming normal for men to stay home and take care of the children.
- The influence of separate spheres should continue to decrease and women's and men's roles may eventually switch completly.
